Swansea striker James Demetriou agrees loan move

HITC Sport understands Swansea striker has agreed loan move to Wealdstone.

Swansea City youngster James Demetriou is poised to join National League South side Wealdstone on loan, HITC Sport understands from sources close to the club.

Demetriou joined Swansea in the summer of 2014 after the Premier League club snapped him from Nottingham Forest.

The 20-year-old, who signed a two-year deal at Swansea, has yet to feature for the first-team, but has been a regular for the club's under-21s.

The Australian-born Cyprus Under-21 international is thought to be keen on a loan move away from the Liberty Stadium with a number of clubs showing an interest in his services.

However, Wealdstone have moved quickly to agree a deal with Swansea to take Demetriou for a short loan spell.

Demetriou is highly-regarded within the corridors of power at the Liberty Stadium and the club feel the forward would be best served to go out on loan now for the remainder of the season to gain some valuable first-team experience.

Swansea hope the loan spell away from the club at Wealdstone will aid Demetriou's development to allow him to come back and challenge for a spot in the first-team in the near future.
