The former Gunner returns to England's top flight.
Whether he was wearing a tiger costume to casual off-the-field events, conceding very late penalties in big games, or just having a bit of an ol' dance, the Ivorian defender was memorable.
Given his history, it is understandable, then, that his return to England with Sunderland today was big news on Twitter. Some Arsenal fans welcomed him back to the top flight. Some didn't.
Eboue's indisputably one of the worst players ever to don Arsenal's shirt— Bobby (@BobbyVertigo) March 9, 2016
Eboue back in the premier league. I will never forget that that star/frog jump warm up when he was about to come on for #AFC— Harry (@harrygavaghan) March 9, 2016
Please tell me we still have Sunderland at home to play I need to see eboue— Tom (@koojenks) March 9, 2016

He was certainly some player to have around the dressing room.
Emmanuel Eboue to Sunderland. That's importing comedy— John Aggrey (@Superjohna07) March 9, 2016
Eboue is one of the worst players I've ever seen in an Arsenal shirt.— Millsy (@JsMills) March 9, 2016
Eboue spent six years in North London following a move from Belgian side Beveren in 2005, leaving for Galatasaray in 2011.
In one of his last games for the club, he fouled Lucas Leiva and conceded a 112th-minute penalty against Liverpool in a Premier League game - minutes after Arsenal had gone ahead.
It was moments like that which left Eboue with an uphill battle in order to reclaim Arsenal fans' affections, though it would appear absence makes the heart grow fonder for some supporters.
