Report sheds light on how Steve McClaren feels about his uncertain Newcastle future

Steve McClaren

Steve McClaren is reportedly 'frustrated and annoyed' that Newcastle have yet to make a decision about his future.

According to The Guardian, Newcastle United boss Steve McClaren is 'deeply frustrated and increasingly annoyed' that his future still hasn't been resolved.

The Magpies lost 3-1 at home to Bournemouth on Saturday afternoon, leaving them 19th in the Premier League table with five defeats in the last six games.

Still only one point away from safety, Newcastle are far from doomed right now, but it's becoming clear that they are in a desperate position right now, with manager McClaren under pressure.

The Guardian report that Newcastle are increasingly confident that they can land former Liverpool and Real Madrid boss Rafael Benitez as their new manager, replacing McClaren.

Newcastle managing director Lee Charnley was scheduled to hold crunch talks with McClaren about his future, but that conversation ended up taking place over the phone, with McClaren's future on Tyneside looking bleak.

Now, The Guardian's report claims that McClaren has been left 'deeply frustrated and increasingly' annoyed that his future still hasn't been resolved amid all the rumours of a move for Benitez.

With the game against Leicester City coming up on Monday, McClaren has been left in limbo over whether he will be in charge for that fixture or not, and as we head towards Thursday, Newcastle are still silent.

It's therefore understandable for McClaren to be unhappy with the situation, and Newcastle really do need to make a decision sooner rather than later, as their fight against relegation takes a dramatic turn.

Do you think McClaren will be sacked before facing Leicester?
