Report: Daryl Janmaat set to leave Newcastle in the summer

As speculation mounts over the manager's position, one player looks as if he's heading towards the exit in the summer.

Newcastle United defender Daryl Janmaat looks set to leave the club in the summer, according to a report in the Chronicle.

The Dutch right-back is said to want to progress his career and would like to test himself in the Champions League, and it says that Janmaat was among one of the players who was told the Newcastle could be a platform for greater things.

Serie A champions Juventus are reportedly one of the sides interested in landing the defender.

Currently, the Magpies are scrapping for survival as they are a point adrift at the bottom and speculation continues to mount about the future of manager Steve McClaren, as it is suggested he could be removed from his position with 10 games to go with Newcastle looking to bring in someone who can secure their status in the top flight.

None of the defenders have covered themselves in glory at the club this season as several sloppy errors have contributed to their downfall, but Jamnaat seems to remain highly rated.

Speculation about certain players futures is not ideal for whoever is going to be leading the club for the final games of the season as they will want everybody pulling in the same direction in order to secure their status.

There is everything to play for as Newcastle face both of their main relegation rivals in Sunderland and Norwich City in the coming weeks, as it seems that two from those three clubs will join Aston Villa in the Championship next season.
