Forest beat Preston 1-0 yesterday, in what was a rather scrappy affair at the City Ground.
Both Forest and Preston are better at the back than they are in attacking situations, and they played out a match which was starved of clear cut chances.
Forest were ruthless when they scored through Nelson Oliveira in the first-half, but it was Mancienne’s display which received the most praise.
The former England youth international was rock solid, as he kept the likes of Joe Garner and Jordan Hugill quiet throughout the contest.
Mancienne has been one of Forest’s key players throughout the campaign so far, and supporters of the Midlands side were quick to praise the defender on social media site Twitter.
Listened to the game on forest player last night, mancienne really is a rock at the back, him or dorus for player of the season for me #nffc— DnoHall (@Dnohall86) March 9, 2016
@Adamwest6 I had Mancienne as MOM, but can't argue with DDV making 2 game winning saves I suppose— Luke Porter (@LukePortah) March 8, 2016
Mills and Mancienne were superb tonight. Our best CB pairing. Top quality defending. We'll supported by Cohen and Lichaj. #nffc— Sutton@NFFC (@mac123_m) March 8, 2016
Mancienne, outstanding game. As a matter of fact the entire defence, well done lads, good stuff! #nffc— Luke Porter (@LukePortah) March 8, 2016
If Mendes was that bit stronger and had composure like Mancienne he'd be absolutely world class— dan (@ffsforest) March 8, 2016
@BBCRNS good victory well deserved. Michael Mancienne outstanding. Just wish the Reds could finish and win by more than one!— Eileen Langham (@eileen1926) March 8, 2016
Forest’s win over Preston has moved them up to 13th in the Championship table.
Dougie Freedman’s side’s next match comes against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
