Mick Quinn comments on the deafening silence at Newcastle amid McClaren rumours

Newcastle United may soon have a new manager at the helm, but their fans are none the wiser for now.

Former Newcastle United player Mick Quinn has taken to Twitter to comment on the ongoing confusion surrounding the future of Magpies manager Steve McClaren.

Reports continue to suggest that the Newcastle hierarchy are on the verge of making a decision regarding McClaren’s future, but for now there appears no clear direction one way or the other.

Newcastle are currently 19th in the Premier League, one point from safety with 10 matches remaining, and while there is plenty of time for them to pull clear of the relegation zone their 3-1 defeat to Bournemouth at the weekend suggested that will be easier said than done.

Newcastle’s board will know it is vital to remain a top flight club next season and yet for now they appear to be reluctant to pull the proverbial trigger, although Quinn appeared to suggest that they may be leaning more one way than the other.

“The silence at Newcastle is deafening,” he wrote on Wednesday afternoon, and when you consider the club have not come out to publically back their manager, one tends to agree with him.

Only time will tell what happens at St James’ Park between now and May, but McClaren will surely not be happy with the way things are being handled amid the ongoing reports.
