Giuseppe Bellusci helped Leeds United keep a clean sheet against Cardiff.
Leeds United defender Giuseppe Bellusci was one of the Leeds players fortunate to not be scarred by the big loss at Brighton a week ago, suspended for the fixture.
He returned for the Whites at the weekend in the win over Bolton, and kept his place for the trip to Cardiff City.
Bellusci was in at centre-back alongside Sol Bamba with Liam Cooper injured, and the Italian was instrumental in the side keeping a clean sheet as they pulled off a surprise away victory.
Key figures from his performance make impressive reading: Bellusci won four aerial battles, more than any Leeds player, and completed 81 per cent of his passes, a rate only bettered by Lewis Cook (85%).
He also made four tackles, more than the rest of the back four combined, with Charlie Taylor, Sol Bamba, and Gaetano Berardi accumulating three.
Bellusci also made five interceptions, a figure matched by Bamba, and nine successful clearances.
The 26-year-old had a difficult first season for various reasons but he has answered his critics on the pitch this season, and it is correct to say Leeds look a better team when he is playing.
Here is a look at how fans reacted on Twitter to his performance...
Bellusci is really looking like our best Centre Back as showed in the last 2 games. Haven't let a goal in since he's came back— Super Leeds United (@Superleedsutd01) March 8, 2016
