Jamie Carragher admits he's praying that a Chinese club sign Liverpool flop Mario Balotelli

Jamie Carragher is hoping to see Mario Balotelli leave Liverpool for China.

Current pundit and former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher has told the Daily Mail that he hopes a Chinese Super League club buy Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli, 25, was signed from AC Milan as a replacement for Luis Suarez, after the controversial striker had been sold to Barcelona - and former Manchester City ace Balotelli was seen as the man to fill Suarez's boots.

However, the move to Anfield really hasn't worked out for the Italian. After scoring just four goals in 28 appearances last season, Balotelli became known as one of the flops of the Premier League season, and it was no surprise when Brendan Rodgers allowed him to leave and re-join AC Milan on loan.

The Italian international has scored just three goals in 14 appearances for the Serie A giants, and it seems unlikely that Sinisa Mihajlovic will make the deal permanent come the end of the season.

That would mean a return to Liverpool, but given the high energy approach of manager Jurgen Klopp, it seems completely out of the question that Balotelli returns and has a long-term future with Liverpool.

The Reds would need to find a buyer though, and former defender Jamie Carragher has told the Daily Mail that he is praying for a Chinese Super League club to splash their cash on Balotelli.

Chinese clubs have signed the likes of Ramires, Gervinho, Alex Teixeira, Nikica Jelavic, Jackson Martinez, Ezequiel Lavezzi, Fredy Guarin, Obafemi Martins and Burak Yilmaz, with clubs spending exorbitant amounts of money to lure big-name players to the Far East - and Carragher hopes that a club wants Balotelli and is willing to pay big money to sign him, because he can't see a Premier League team wanting to sign him.

"I can't believe we signed Mario Balotelli! The thing with Balotelli is everyone always says it's the off-the-field antics, but I wouldn't care if he was doing it on the pitch," said Carragher. "People tell me he's got talent but I can't remember him having a good game. I'm praying with all the money in the Chinese Super League that someone is going to buy him after his loan. I don't think anyone in the Premier League will take him," he added.

Do you think Balotelli has a future at Liverpool?
