Firmino could replace Luis Suarez at Liverpool, predicts Thierry Henry

The Brazilian has started to flourish under Jurgen Klopp in recent months.

Roberto Firmino could have the same influence Luis Suarez had for Liverpool in future now he is settling in, Thierry Henry has predicted to Sky Sports.

The Brazilian joined the Reds in the summer, with former boss Brendan Rodgers spending big money to secure him from German side Hoffenheim.

He initially struggled to impress in the Premier League, with a series of disappointing displays leaving many fearing he was another flop signing.

He has turned that around though with impressive displays under Jurgen Klopp, and Henry says that Firmino could help to fill the void left by Luis Suarez in future.

“I will give him the benefit of the doubt because he has just arrived and he needs to settle,” he told Sky Sports.

“Things changed during the season and it isn’t always easy. He is starting to show some signs that he can be that guy.”

“Is he Luis Suarez? At the moment he isn’t Suarez. But he might be in the future.”

If Firmino is to have a big impact at Liverpool in future, much will likely rest on where he is employed in the Reds first team.

He has enjoyed his best form in a central role in the side, but has found himself back in a wide right position when Philippe Coutinho is in the team.

The number 10 role is arguably his by default, meaning Firmino may have to work out how to flourish an in unfavoured role if he is to become their next Suarez.
