The Croatia international is expected to line up for the Reds at Anfield tomorrow evening.
Liverpool defender Dejan Lovren has said the side will approach tomorrow night's Europa League game against Manchester United with confidence after recording recent Premier League wins over Manchester City and Crystal Palace.
The Reds are determined to get their own back on United this season having lost both Premier League encounter to Louis van Gaal's side.
Lovren has told the official Liverpool website: “We are in good form so we have a lot of confidence and we just need to keep continuing to play like this and the result will come.
“It's an important game because it's a Europa League [match] and we want to go to the final. It's a special game because it's a derby and it's always great to beat Manchester United in whichever competition it will be.
“It will be a tough game. They have qualities [and] they have individual players who can score whenever they want so we just need to be concentrated.”
Certainly the anticipation surrounding the fixture has been growing as kick-off has approached as the two most decorated clubs in English football go head-to-head in European competition for the first time.
It hasn't been the greatest season for either side as they sit three points apart in the Premier League table, with United occupying sixth place, with Liverpool a place behind having played a game less.
Liverpool have reached a League Cup final which they lost on penalties but have bounced back strongly and are hoping to carry that momentum into this encounter, while United go into the game on the back of a disappointing defeat to West Bromwich Albion.
Given the sense of occasion going into this fixture, one does wonder whether the form book will go out of the window. But as the home side in the first leg, it's hard to think that Liverpool won't try and start the game quickly.
