Charlie Nicholas highlights 'tough call' for Pochettino, predicts Dortmund v Tottenham,

Charlie Nicholas believes Tottenham will lose 2-1 to Borussia Dortmund.

Pundit Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he thinks Tottenham will lose 2-1 away to Borussia Dortmund in the Europa League on Thursday evening.

Spurs travel to Germany in search of a huge win over Borussia Dortmund, having picked up just one point in Premier League games against West Ham United and Arsenal.

Mauricio Pochettino's men are enjoying a stunning campaign and still sit just five points adrift at the top of the Premier League table, but the Europa League takes centre stage on Thursday night.

Having coasted past Fiorentina in the last round, Spurs are now matched up with Thomas Tuchel's Borussia Dortmund side, who are considered to be one of the favourites to win the Europa League this season.

With players like Marco Reus, Henrikh Mkhitaryan, Shinji Kagawa and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang, Dortmund have plenty of firepower going forward, and they will certainly put Tottenham's impressive defence to the test at Signal Iduna Park.

The Germans enter the the two-legged affair as slight favourites, and pundit Charlie Nicholas has told Sky Sports that he thinks Dortmund will win the game 2-1 on Thursday night.

Nicholas believes Spurs boss Pochettino has a 'tough call' picking his team, with squad rotation potentially on the agenda ahead of Sunday's Premier League trip to Aston Villa - and ultimately believes Spurs will struggle to handle Dortmund goal machine Aubameyang.

"Well this is a tremendous test for Tottenham and I think they can go there and have a good go because Dortmund are quite an open side," said Nicholas. "One thing that's guaranteed is a tremendous atmosphere, it was one of the best I ever played in. It's another tough call for Mauricio Pochettino as to who he plays. I think the Spurs boss will be tempted to go with a strong side, knowing knocking out Dortmund probably makes them favourites to win the competition."

"However, Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang is going to be a real handful and the key to getting a positive result is probably keeping him quiet. He's been sensational for them this season and his whole game has improved. With his pace they will need to defend five yards deeper," he added.
