Adrian Heath’s response when asked if Everton should keep ahold of Martinez

Roberto Martinez has been coming under increased pressure at Everton.

Speaking to ESPN FC, former Everton star Adrian Heath has admitted that he would keep Roberto Martinez at Goodison Park, despite the Spanish boss seemingly coming under increasing pressure.

Heath said: “I personally feel they should keep him. We’ve got new investment at the club now. We’ve got a billionaire, which is something I know Bill Kenwright has been looking to bring to the club for years. And if we can keep hold of our better players, and start to build around them, I think the future is quite bright. I’d stick with Roberto for the time being.”

Martinez has been coming under increased pressure at Everton, with fans starting to turn on the boss due to his lack of ability to coach a defensive team.

The Toffees look great going forward, but constantly shoot themselves in the foot due to some questionable defending, and their 12th placed position in the Premier League table is far below the level of the squad.

Still, Martinez should be praised for some of his work on Merseyside.

He has drastically improved the likes of Ross Barkley and Romelu Lukaku, and has made the Toffees a joy to watch, but his failures mean his good work gets overlooked.

There have been no indications that the Everton board are considering Martinez’s future, but the fans are starting to turn on him.

However, Heath - himself a manager at Orlando City of MLS - believes that Martinez should be kept at Goodison Park so the club can build with the Spaniard at the helm.
