The older midfielder still has no contract update.
He only signed his previous extension in July but has impressed Mauricio Pochettino enough this season to earn himself a new deal - which lasts until 2020.
The talented midfielder is just one of several young stars coming through the ranks but the signature was perhaps a strange one, considering he only renewed his deal at Spurs as recently as July.
Meanwhile, a player who has been a much more regular member of the Spurs first-team, who plays in the same position, is out of contract in the summer.
Tom Carroll still does not have a new deal - despite being a regular for Spurs this season.
The 23-year-old has played 25 times for the club this season, scoring three goals, and appears to have jumped in front of Nabil Bentaleb in the pecking order.
But whilst Winks' future has been secured, again, Carroll remains a free agent in the summer.
Whether Tottenham have decided his future does not lie with them remains to be seen but surely the club should be looking to keep hold of the player - rather than lose him for free.
