The Blues have reportedly scouted the Marseille striker.
One man they may have been watching is forward Michy Batshuayi, with the striker’s displays having garnered attention this season.
There is every chance Everton could be monitoring him as a replacement for Romelu Lukaku, who many are predicting they will face a fight to keep this summer.
The Belgian has bagged 18 goals in 28 games, in a campaign that has reportedly caught the eye of several big European teams.
But would Batshuayi be a viable replacement should Lukaku make an exit from Goodison Park?
Well a look at the stats, courtesy of WhoScored, shows he has some catching up to do at present.
|Goals||Goal Assist||Total Scoring Att per Game||Dispossessed|
|Unsuccessful Touch per Game||Passing Accuracy||Appearances|
Lukaku dominates when it comes to league goals, 18 in 28 compared to 13 in 27, but Batshuayi has managed one more assist than the Blues forward.
Lukaku has also managed more shots per game, 3.5 to 3.4, as well as more dribbles, 2.2 compared to 1.1.
He also comes out on top in terms of possession, having been dispossessed 2.5 times per game compared to Batshuayi’s tally of 2.7.
His winning streak continues with unsuccessful touches, as Lukaku has registered 2.2 per game compared to 2.3 for the Marseille man.
The only place where the pair is level is in successful dribbles per game, with both managing a tally of 1.1 per game this season, while Batshuayi comes out on top for passing accuracy, 85% to 74%.
A win for Lukaku nonetheless, although hardly not the clear domination one may have anticipated.
Batshuayi is not too far behind, and with a little work, the stats suggest Everton could turn him into a viable replacement should Lukaku leave this summer.
