Newcastle are in danger of getting relegated from the Premier League.
Former Rangers and Southampton winger Neil McCann suggested on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Monday morning (March 7, 11:25am) that Newcastle United have an advantage in their battle to avoid relegation from the Premier League at the end of the season.
“The thing that Newcastle have in their favour is that they play so many sides around them in the run-in, so it hands them an opportunity to play against teams who are obviously lacking goals or lacking confidence,” said McCann.
Newcastle, who are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment, will take on leaders Leicester City away from home at the King Power Stadium next week.
The Magpies will then face fellow relegation candidates Sunderland at St. James’ Park before confronting Norwich City, who are also in danger of going down to the Championship.
While winning against Leicester does not appear likely, the Magpies can get something out of their games against Sunderland and Norwich.
Six points from those matches are certainly going to be a huge boost to the Magpies’ chances of staying up, but the problem is that based on current form, that does not look very likely.
