Rohan Ricketts names two surprise potential replacements for Steve McClaren

Tim Sherwood Press Conference 12/02/2014

Newcastle United are fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Former Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Rohan Ricketts has named four potential candidates to replace Newcastle United head coach Steve McClaren on social networking site Twitter.

McClaren has come under intense pressure in recent weeks due to Newcastle’s disappointing performances and poor results.

According to a recent report in The Guardian, Newcastle are expected to sack Steve McClaren as their head coach.

Rickets has named four potential candidates to succeed the Englishman: Glenn Hoddle, Paul Ince, Brendan Rodgers and Tim Sherwood.

Sherwood is without a managerial job at the moment, having been sacked by Aston Villa earlier in the season.

Brendan Rodgers was also fired by Liverpool last year, while Hoddle and Ince are available at the moment.

Sherwood and Rodgers are names that many Newcastle fans will agree with, but Hoddle and Ince?

Hoddle last managed a football club back in 2006 when he was in charge of Wolverhampton Wanderers.

As for Ince, he has not been in football management since January 2014 when he was sacked by Blackpool.

The former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder’s managerial career has not been exactly great, and it would be a massive gamble for Newcastle to give him the job at this stage of the season.
