Everton are currently in 12th place in the Premier League table, after underperforming throughout the season so far.
According to the Telegraph, Roberto Martinez is coming under increasing pressure as Everton manager.
The Telegraph claim that new Everton investor Farhad Moshiri will not make any decisions over Martinez’s future, but he is yet to be entirely convinced by the Spanish boss.
The new majority shareholder has ambitious plans for the Toffees, and their poor performance this season has cast doubts over whether Martinez is the right man to take the club forward.
Everton are currently stuck in 12th place in the Premier League table, and the squad apparently feel that Martinez is largely to blame for their strugglers.
It is reported that many members of Everton’s squad have become frustrated with Martinez’s tactics, which encourage them to attack at all costs.
Sections of the Toffees’ players also feel that Martinez’s comments to the media are causing them to be unfairly judged.
Martinez has hyperbolically talked up John Stones, Tom Cleverley and Ross Barkley publicly, and the players reportedly feel that Martinez’s comments are opening them up to ridicule, when they do not perform.
Martinez now faces a crucial few months, and he will be required to help the team improve, if he wants to convince Moshiri that he is the right man for the future.
