Rangers: top 30 players - Number 23

Rangers FC Stands

Ian Ferguson scored the winning goal in a Scottish Cup final at the age of 20, but his best years came at Ibrox as Rangers dominated Scottish football.

Ian Ferguson cemented his place in the history of St Mirren with his winning goal in the 1987 Scottish Cup final, but his professional career with be remembered for his time at Rangers as he played a part in each of the club's nine successive league titles between 1989 and 1997.

He is one of only three players to achieve that feat - the others being Ally McCoist and Richard Gough - and while the other two probably hold a higher standing in Glasgow than the midfielder, he still made a total of 336 appearances during his time at the club, scoring 46 goals.

Ferguson also achieved success in the domestic cup competitions, with six League Cups and five Scottish Cups being won while he played a role in the centre of the park, taking his overall tally to 21 trophies during his 12-year stay.

His playing time petered out when Dick Advocaat was placed in charge of the club, but he had already became a legend at the Gers and he was rightly inducted into the club's Hall of Fame in 2006.
