Micky Gray has told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on TalkSPORT on the morning of the 8th March that Middlesbrough have a squad which is perfectly capable of competing in the Premier League.
Boro are the bookies’ favourites to achieve promotion from the Championship, as they have had a strong campaign so far.
The North East side are sat in second spot in the second tier table, and they have a game in hand over top of the league Burnley.
Gray believes that Aitor Karanka’s side will get over the line, and he expects them to do well at the top level next season, too.
“I do [think Middlesbrough will be promoted],” he said. “I think the squad that they have put together is very good. They have spent a lot of money.
“I think if Middlesbrough do come up with the squad that they have got they would cope in the Premier League. They are ready-made for the Premier League again right now.”
Boro missed out on promotion in the play off final last season, after losing to Norwich City.
They have bounced back from that heartbreak well, though, and their squad appears to be one of the best in the Championship.
Karanka has been backed with funds this season, and the additions of the likes of Stewart Downing, Gaston Ramirez and Jordan Rhodes have been hugely eye catching.
Boro could move to the top of the Championship standings tonight, if they are able to beat Rotherham United later.
