Mark Warburton explains what Rangers’ youngsters are learning out on loan

A number of Rangers players are currently out on loan.

Speaking to the official Rangers website, Mark Warburton has explained what the young players are currently learning whilst away from Ibrox on loan deals.

Warburton said: “The boys out on loan are adapting and learning what it means to be in games where three points ae everything, where they have guys alongside them who have to go home and pay their mortgages and their bills.”

There were 10 Rangers players turning out for loan clubs last weekend, with the most notable appearances being those from Ryan Hardie and Jordan Thompson.

Hardie netted a hat-trick for Raith Rovers in a 4-3 win - taking his total up to four in two games - and Thompson scored an excellent long-range strike for Airdrie against Cowdenbeath.

Both players have already played for the Gers’ first-team under Warburton, but it is clear he does not consider them ready for consistent action at Ibrox.

He wants them to continue developing out-on-loan, and playing alongside people who are relying on good results to continue their careers and their lives.

This is far better for the youngsters than simply featuring in the Rangers development squad or infrequently in the first-team, and they already seem to be benefitting from the loan spells.
