Mark Bosnich makes a claim about Rafael Benitez and Newcastle

Newcastle United are fighting for survival in the Premier League.

Former Aston Villa and Manchester United goalkeeper Mark Bosnich suggested on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (March 8) that Rafael Benitez will not be interested in the Newcastle United managerial job.

According to a recent report in The Guardian, Newcastle are expected to sack Steve McClaren as their head coach.

The Guardian reported at the weekend that David Moyes, Rafael Benitez, Nigel Pearson and Brendan Rodgers are all potential candidates to replace McClaren.

Bosnich believes that Moyes would be a good managerial appointment for Newcastle, but he doubts Benitez will be interested.

“You would say probably David Moyes is the guy to come in and give them an opportunity to stay in the Premier League,” said Bosnich on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast show on talkSPORT on Tuesday morning (March 8).

“I am not so sure Rafael Benitez will really take to that situation because they are in a situation where they have really got a battle and really got a fight.”

Benitez has been in charge of bigger and ambitious clubs in his career, most recently Real Madrid.

From the biggest club in the world to a side in the bottom three of the Premier League is going to be a massive step-down for the Spaniard.

Why would Benitez take charge of a team that could go down to the Championship at the end of the season?
