Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur are both showing an interest in Marseille midfielder Lassana Diarra, according to reports in France.
Diarra has been outstanding this season for Marseille, signing in the summer on a free transfer and filling the void left by Giannelli Imbula, sold to Porto and subsequently Stoke City.
He has even earned his place back in the France international squad ahead of Euro 2016, a prospect which seemed unlikely a year ago, when he missed most of the season after he agreed to terminate his contract at Lokomotiv Moscow, but was not permitted to sign anywhere else.
Diarra has experience of playing in the Premier League, signed by Chelsea from Le Havre, where he spent two seasons before moving to Arsenal. He left the Gunners after six months to sign with Portsmouth, where he really hit form and earned a £20 million move to Real Madrid.
Manchester United's interest is intriguing as Jose Mourinho, a potential appointment at Old Trafford, has worked with Diarra at both Chelsea and Real Madrid.
Both Tottenham and United have strong options in midfield and a move would be somewhat of a surprise, but Marseille have shown recently they are a selling club, and there could be a tidy profit to be turned on a player they signed for nothing last summer.
