West Ham United co-chairman David Gold has told the club's official website that he has been pleasantly surprised with the performances of Manuel Lanzini and Dimitri Payet.
The Hammers remain just one point off the Champions League places after a stunning 3-2 win over Everton on Saturday, as Payet's injury-time goal handed West Ham all three points after they had been 2-0 down at Goodison Park.
It's been a frankly remarkable season for the Hammers under Slaven Bilic, and the Croatian is on the verge of taking the club into the European qualification places ahead of the big move to the Olympic Stadium.
Many of the players who were at Upton Park before Bilic's arrival - such as Adrian, Aaron Cresswell, Mark Noble and James Collins - have impressed this season, but the majority of his signings have been superb too.
Centre back Angelo Ogbonna has looked solid in defence since arriving from Juventus, whilst midfielder Pedro Obiang has shown glimpses of what he can do after an initially slow start to life in England.
Further up the pitch, Manuel Lanzini has become a firm fan favourite, winger Michail Antonio has earned plaudits for his combination of pace, power and exceptional work rate, whilst playmaker Dimitri Payet is a frontrunner for Player of the Year after some stunning displays.
Now, co-chairman David Gold has told the club's website that he has been surprised with how good Lanzini and Payet have been, as whilst he expected them to be good, he didn't envisage them being quite as superb as they have been, whilst he simply described Antonio as 'sensational'.
"The players that we brought in have all excelled our expectations – we thought Lanzini would be good but he has been very good," said Gold. "We thought Payet was good but he has turned out to be brilliant. Another great success has been Michail Antonio who arrived from Nottingham Forest last summer and has been sensational."
"Ogbonna and Obiang have also done very well. All of the new players have come together and helped make this a special season," he added.
Who do you think has been West Ham's best signing under Bilic?
