Charlie Nicholas predicts Liverpool v Manchester United

Liverpool Wall

Liverpool take on Manchester United in the Europa League.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Charlie Nicholas has predicted Liverpool’s Europa League game v Manchester United, claiming the Reds will pick up a 2-0 win.

Nicholas said: “Most will be expecting Daniel Sturridge to come back in, but you never know what condition he's in. Christian Benteke should be the one banging on Jurgen Klopp's door demanding the chance to play against this United defence. He's just scored a big goal which could be the corner turned. The way he took that penalty tells me he's up to the challenge of proving he can still make a big contribution.”

Nicholas has predicted that Benteke will score the first goal in a 2-0 win, netting just days after scoring a controversial penalty against Crystal Palace.

The Reds won that game, and will be heading into the Anfield tie in great spirits, whereas the Red Devils lost to West Brom at the weekend in dour fashion.

Benteke will be pushing for a starting role given his game winning performance, and if Jurgen Klopp trusts the striker it will be a bold decision.

Benteke has struggled this season, and considering how important this game is, Klopp could look to his more reliable forwards to bring the goals.

Still, Liverpool will likely fancy their chances in the tie, even if Louis van Gaal has dominated them since his arrival in England.

Winning the Europa League is likely the only chance either Liverpool or United will have to get into the Champions League next season, and this game is the biggest tie of their respective seasons.
