Leicester will take on the Magpies at home in the Premier League on Monday evening.
Former Newcastle striker Shearer believes that the Foxes will pick up all three points from the encounter at the King Power Stadium.
“I really hope Leicester win the League,” Shearer wrote on Coral.co.uk. “Leicester are everybody’s second team just like Newcastle were when I joined them in 1996.
“Everybody was cheering on Newcastle, after their own sides, in 1996 because of the way they played and all the goals they scored, and that’s what is happening now as everyone is cheering on Leicester to do it.
“They play Newcastle next and quite frankly the way Newcastle are playing three points is practically a given. Leicester seem to be getting better and better. I hope nerves don’t set in, but I still think there will be more twists and turns before the end of the season.”
Leicester are in good form at the moment, and they will be confident of winning against Newcastle next week.
Newcastle are struggling at the moment and lost yet again in the Premier League at the weekend.
The Magpies currently find themselves second from bottom in the Premier League table and are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.
Steve McClaren’s side have a poor record away from home, and it is hard to see them getting anything from the match against Leicester at the King Power Stadium on Monday evening.
