Slaven Bilic hails West Ham United winger Michail Antonio's first touch

West Ham Upton Park

Michail Antonio has scored six goals in his first 17 appearances for West Ham United.

West Ham United boss Slaven Bilic has told the London Evening Standard that Michail Antonio has made vast improvements since moving to Upton Park.

Antonio switched to West Ham from Nottingham Forest last summer, and he made a slow start at the London club.

The 25-year-old played just once in the league up until December, but after an injury crisis struck has was handed a chance.

Antonio has not looked backed, and Bilic feels that the powerful wide-man is the perfect example for other footballers plucked from the Football League to follow.

“The lad deserves everything, he is a perfect example for players who are moving up levels,” Bilic said.

“He didn’t get his chance at the beginning because we had players who were doing really well. But he didn’t sink, continued to work hard and learn. His touch has improved a lot. He is enjoying his football, he deserves everything he’s going through now.”

Antonio continued his fine run of scoring form by finding the back of the net in West Ham’s dramatic 3-2 win over Everton.

Antonio scored the first of the Hammers’ three goals, as they came from behind to pick up the three points at Goodison Park.

The wide-man has now scored three goals in his last three matches, helping West Ham to climb up to fifth in the Premier League table.
