Report: West Ham consider Bony and Benteke as Batshuayi alternatives

West Ham

West Ham are looking at the Manchester City and Liverpool strikers.

West Ham are considering Wilfried Bony and Christian Benteke as alternatives to Michy Batshuayi, the Telegraph reports.

The Hammers are going to make big moves in the summer to sign Batshuayi, believing that the 22-year-old will establish West Ham’s reputation as a top European side.

They want the youngster for the long-term benefits he will bring, and it is clear that Batshuayi is Slaven Bilic’s priority signing for the summer.

Dimitri Payet will attempt to utilise his friendship with Batshuayi to tempt the forward to East London, although the Hammers will face competition from a number of Europe’s biggest teams, as the forward is heavily in demand.

With the Hammers moving to the Olympic Stadium this summer, they want a marquee signing to celebrate the switch, and alternatives have already been targeted should Batshuayi prove too hard a target to sign.

The report indicates that Manchester City forward Wilfried Bony and Liverpool man Christian Benteke are on Bilic’s list, as they are both set to leave their respective clubs this summer.

Bony, 27, has scored 11 goals in 38 games for City since moving to the club last January, whilst Benteke has eight goals in 33 games this season, having signed for Liverpool from Aston Villa over the summer.
