Liverpool are sounding out the potential purchase of Leandro Paredes, Gianluca Di Marzio reports.
The Reds have been scouting Paredes for the last few weeks, and it is stated that the club have made an enquiry into the 21-year-old’s availability heading into the summer transfer window.
Paredes currently plays for Serie A side Empoli, on loan from Italian giants Roma. He has played 24 games, establishing himself as one of the most highly rated central midfielders in the division.
A former Argentine youth international, Paredes has managed 2.8 tackles, 1.5 interceptions, 1.2 key passes and 1.9 shots per game. He is effective as a midfielder in both an attacking and defensive role, and looks to have a wealth of talent.
Paredes' contract at Roma runs until the summer of 2019, but Liverpool want to cut short that deal and bring him to Anfield in the summer.
They have already made approaches to sound out whether Roma would be open to selling him, and whilst the report does not state a response from the Giallorossi, the Reds are continuing to hold talks - suggesting a deal is possible.
Liverpool are also keeping an eye on Piotr Zielinski, the Polish international midfielder on loan at Empoli from Udinese.
