Here is how we predict Manchester United will line up against Liverpool this week:

Manchester United travel to Anfield on Thursday evening to face Liverpool in the first leg of their Europa League last-16 tie.

Louis van Gaal’s side had looked to have turned a corner after impressing in recent victories against Shrewsbury Town, FC Midtjylland, Arsenal and Watford, but they came unstuck against West Bromwich Albion on Sunday.

That said, United will need no addition motivation for this week’s match, as they face their fierce domestic rivals in European action.

United will know this is now their most realistic chance of qualifying for the Champions League next season and they will not want to slip out of Europe to the Reds.

In early team news, United are without Luke Shaw, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Ashley Young, Will Keane and Wayne Rooney, while Phil Jones and Antonio Valencia are unlikely to feature.

Youngsters Cameron Borthwick-Jackson and Donald Love are both rated at 75 per cent to be available if called upon.

With all that in mind, here is how we expect United to line up later this week:
