West Ham United winger Michail Antonio said on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday morning (March 6) that Arsenal need to be more gritty.
Antonio made the comments following Arsenal’s failure to win the North London derby against Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday afternoon.
“Arsenal are starting to pick up a bit now,” said Antonio on the Goals on Sunday show on Sky Sports 1 on Sunday morning (March 6).
“I feel they need to get more gritty, they play a bit too much fancy football. They need to step their feet down, get some more challenges and stuff like that.”
Arsenal have been playing the best football in England for well over a decade, but they have not won the Premier League since 2004.
This season the Gunners have - or had? - a great chance, but it seems that they are not going to last the distance.
The North London outfit have some superb footballers, such as Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez, but at times they lack that battling quality, that grit.
The fact that Antonio, who is only in his first season in the Premier League, has noticed that speaks volumes.
