Jamie Redknapp felt Mohammed Elneny played well for Arsenal in the North London derby.
The Egyptian midfielder was the club's only January signing, but has had spent most of his time sitting on the bench.
He was a surprise selection in the North London derby, with manager Arsene Wenger showing his faith in the former Basle man by putting his faith in the midfielder.
Former Premier League ace Redknapp felt Elneny responded to the challenge well.
He said: "It was interesting that Arsene Wenger started him alongside Francis Coquelin but they couldn’t go over to White Hart Lane and be completely open.
"Elneny gave his team a base and extra security in midfield. He wasn’t outstanding but he looked good on the ball and it’s in these kind of games where you really judge a player.
"Coquelin is banned now but Elneny looks ready to play for the rest of the season."
Elneny's task was made all the more difficult by Coquelin's red card, but he showed enough to suggest he warrants further opportunities.
With a big upcoming game against Barcelona, Elneny has put himself in with a big chance of being selected to start, and after Coquelin's stupidity at White Hart Lane, the new signing deserves a run in the side to show what he can do.
