Leeds United supporters continue to show their displeasure at owner Massimo Cellino.
Leeds United are relatively big news in Italy given the continued presence of Massimo Cellino at Elland Road, so it is no surprise that the Whites fans’ latest protest against their owner has attracted a few headlines in his homeland.
On Saturday some Leeds supporters followed up their projector protest with a less subtle indication of their frustration, with fan group Time To Go Massimo staging a mock funeral to grieve the club as they once knew it.
Leeds have struggled on the pitch for much of the season but there was some welcome good news as a Mirco Antenucci double earned them a 2-1 victory against Bolton at Elland Road. But that will not be enough to ease the concerns of the fan base and it will be interesting to see just how much longer Cellino remains at the helm.
So what did the Italian press make of the demonstration? Well, website spaziomilan.it called it ‘absurd’ while acknowledging that they had never seen anything quite like it.
Leeds are currently 16th in the Championship after an up-and-down campaign, but despite having some of the best young players in the division, their future remains unclear.
