The Palace boss was lambasted for making changes that only swung momentum towards the Reds.
Yohan Cabaye may have had a knock but he was fit enough to start for Crystal Palace against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon. And, having lasted most of the match, the Frenchman could surely have played for the remainder of Palace's 2-1 defeat?
Had he stayed on, it might not have been a 2-1 defeat at all. Alan Pardew was clearly worried Cabaye's lack of fitness would cost the Eagles. Yet taking him off didn't work out too well in that regard anyway, did it?
That's the reasoning of several Crystal Palace supporters on Twitter after their loss to Liverpool.
Yes the Reds were lucky to have been gifted the ball for the first goal - and won thanks to a penalty Palace fans don't want to accept.
But taking Cabaye off was Pardew's own decision - one many feel cost Crystal Palace big time against Liverpool.
Not only was it branded a 'shocking' change on social media but a 'suicidal' one! Here's how Palace fans reacted on Twitter to what they felt was further evidence of poor in-game management from Pardew:
@sicon77 yes I agree so why did he take of cabaye and ledley the core of our midfield all he done was weekend it— graham brooks (@graham_cpfc) March 7, 2016
Still can't get my head around subbing Cabaye and Ledley for Mutch and Sako,I know yohan had a knock but it's suicidal #cpfc— georgieCPFC (@Georgie185) March 7, 2016
I wonder how much advice AP takes from the likes of KM and JS! Taking Cabaye off today was shocking! #CPFC— Eagleyed (@Eagle2457) March 6, 2016
You can't replace players of the calibre of Adebayor & Cabaye with Championship players like Mutch & Sako and expect to see games out #cpfc— Paul Bristow (@LundanCabbie) March 6, 2016
@redmanpe He has no talent, he contributes nothing, and Pardew's decision to bring on a passenger instead of (corcked) Cabaye cost us.— Martin Searle (@calneeagle) March 6, 2016
u gotta have good game management pardew doesnt it has cost us many times so far taking cabaye off is crazy only ball player out there— Charlie Adams (@MRBigglez8) March 6, 2016
