Will pundits now stop tipping Newcastle United for survival?

St James Park

Surely The Magpies now look like favourites for the drop.

Newcastle United took on Bournemouth at St James Park yesterday and were, once again, made to look well off the pace in their fight for Premier League survival.

The Magpies were defeated 3-1 by Bournemouth in a rather humbling affair which sees them remain the relegation zone.

The debate over who goes down this season has been raging for a few months now.

The majority of pundits seem to continually tip Newcastle to stay up - with Swansea City going down.

The general perception is that Newcastle have too many good players and that their business in the January transfer window would keep them up.

But at the end of the day Newcastle are simply not playing like a team who truly want to stay up.

Look at Swansea. They have battled their way to two consecutive wins whilst North-East rivals Sunderland also show a fighting spirit.

Newcastle may have the talented players - but none of them seem to want to put in the hard graft to pick up the win.

Without that fighting spirit there is no hope that Newcastle will be staying up this season.
