According to the Mirror, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Everton’s Romelu Lukaku.
The report claims that the German giants sent technical director Michael Reschke to monitor the Everton striker’s progress in the midweek win over Premier League strugglers Aston Villa.
Bayern Munich are said to be on the lookout for a potential long-term replacement for Robert Lewandowski, and Lukaku seemingly fits the criteria in which the Bavarian side are searching for.
The Belgium international has been in blistering form for the Toffees this season, scoring 18 Premier League goals and adding a further six assists in 28 league appearances.
After initially failing to replicate his form during a loan spell at Goodison Park following his record move to Everton, a number of supporters questioned whether the club paid over the odds for his services.
However, Lukaku has hit back in style this season and considering he is still only 22, the powerful striker has a huge career ahead of him and a leading spot for an elite club is well within his reach.
Everton’s recent injection of cash via Farhad Moshiri's majority stake takeover suggests the club will be in no hurry to sell off their best stars, but sooner or later the likes of Lukaku and John Stones will want Champions League football.
Bayern Munich are leading the way in the Bundesliga and are among the challengers to be crowned champions of Europe, with highly-rated coach Carlo Ancelotti set to replace Pep Guardiola this summer.
