Tottenham Hotspur will no doubt bring a new forward to White Hart Lane this summer but they should aim big.
But despite Spurs’ ongoing pursuit of the England under-21 international, there are far better options out there for a club that could start next season as Premier League champions and will almost certainly be in the Champions League after a superb campaign.
Here we take a look at three strikers Tottenham should move for ahead of Berahino.
Marseille forward Michy Batshuayi is on course to become one of the most exciting strikers in Europe and Tottenham would be wise to make a move before another top club steals in.
The 22-year-old has scored 18 goals and provided eight assists in 38 appearances this season and he could take White Hart Lane by storm.
The youngest player on this list, 19-year-old Breel Embolo is FC Basel’s jewel in the crown and he would certainly not come cheap with a contract until the summer of 2019. However, he fits the Tottenham transfer model perfectly and he is only going to get better with age.
Embolo has scored eight goals and set up seven more in 29 games this season and while that is not exactly an outstanding return he is a superb player with the versatility to excel in a range of positions at Tottenham.
Tottenham need Champions League quality players to compete in Europe’s elite competition next season and Lyon front-man Alexandre Lacazette is well on course to take that title.
The 24-year-old was on fire last season, scoring 31 goals in 40 matches, and while this campaign has been a slight comedown he has still netted 12 times to date.
Lacazette is a class act and his signing would be a statement of intent at Tottenham this summer.
