Emre Can was a machine in Liverpool's win at Crystal Palace

The German midfielder played a big role in the Reds' shock win.

Emre Can certainly appears to be one of the players who has improved since manager Jurgen Klopp replaced Brendan Rodgers at Liverpool back in October.

And the big German midfielder starred for the Reds again on Sunday as Klopp's side defied the odds by beating Crystal Palace with 10 men at Selhurst Park.

Christian Benteke converted a last-minute penalty to snatch all three points for the visitors, who had James Milner sent off for two yellow cards on 63 minutes - nine minutes before Roberto Firmino cancelled out Joe Ledley's opener early in the second half.

With that being said, Can was not on the score sheet and did not provide an assist, but one look at the post-match statistics should illustrate that he played a huge role in the win.

The 22-year-old clocked over 100 touches of the ball and won 13 of his duels - more than any other player with the exception of Dejan Lovren, who also finished with 13.

Furthermore, Can also finished the contest with a 100% tackling success.

It was a game that the Merseysiders had to win in order to preserve their hopes of playing Champions League football next season. The three points takes them back into seventh, six points behind fourth-placed Manchester City with plenty of football still to play.
