The defender returned to Manchester City but did not have a happy homecoming.
Aston Villa's already very slim survival hopes received a massive blow at the weekend, as they were turned over comfortably at The Etihad.
Villa actually performed well in the first-half, holding City to a 0-0 scoreline at the half.
But the second half started disastrously and they ended up giving away four goals. That scoreline did not flatter City who dominated for vast swathes of the fixture.
Villa's sheer lack of effort in the second half had pundits in shock and that has been the story most of the season.
One player who has however always put in his best is summer signing Micah Richards.
He joined the club from Manchester City in the summer on a free transfer. He has always put in 100 per cent effort, even if his form has unfortunately let him down at times.
His image certainly summed up the feeling at Aston Villa at the moment.
He would have wanted a top performance on his return to The Etihad but the harder he tried the poorer he seemed to play.
Of course his team-mates didn't help and the images of a desolate Richards certainly sum up the mood at Villa at the moment.
