Sir Alex

The Manchester United legend was in the stands as the Baggies made history.

The Sky Sports cameras zoomed right in on Sir Alex Ferguson at full-time.

It's as if the Manchester United legend just couldn't believe his eyes as West Brom made history with a 1-0 win against Louis van Gaal's men.

But Fergie's surprise likely didn't come from Man United losing. It was probably from the fact United lost again.

Indeed, Ferguson must simply be sick and tired of seeing Manchester United lose while he's in the stands. It's almost as though United have lost more games since his departure than during his whole tenure at Old Trafford.

Obviously, that's not exactly the case. But should United keep going like this for a couple more seasons, it may well be.

West Brom were good value for their win but Ferguson's reaction said it all for Manchester United. Under Van Gaal, there is no direction, no fight and no sense of pride or identity.

Van Gaal actually got carried away enough by a brief run of form to forget how badly his side have done this season. And so it continued at West Brom...
