Have Leeds United just faced the striker they should bid for this summer?

Elland Road Revie Stand

Leeds United and Bolton Wanderers went head-to-head this weekend.

On Saturday Leeds United came up against a player some feel would be perfect for them.

Young striker Zach Clough is the jewel in Bolton Wanderers’ crown; a 20-year-old who has the innate ability to ultimately become one of the most effective goal-scorers in the Championship.

This weekend he could not prevent Bolton from losing 2-1 to Leeds in what was a vital win for Steve Evans’ side, but the Whites’ manager would have been forgiven for casting admiring glances Clough’s way.

The Bolton player did not have the best of games at Elland Road, with just one goal attempt and no assists or key passes.

However, his passing accuracy of 75 per cent was impressive for a young forward playing away from home, while his eight ball recoveries, two successful duels and two interceptions demonstrated Clough’s fighting spirit.

With Bolton seemingly destined for at least one season in League One, they are likely to cash in on Clough this summer, and on the evidence of the season so far Leeds would be wise to make a move while they can.

Leeds have some of the most exciting young players in the second tier and in Clough they would be adding the goal-scorer who could complete the set.
