Demba Ba sends message to Benteke after controversial Liverpool penalty

Christian Benteke scored the winner for Liverpool against Crystal Palace on Sunday.

Former West Ham United and Newcastle United striker Demba Ba has praised Christian Benteke on social networking site Twitter.

Ba was pleased to see the Liverpool striker score an injury-time penalty in the Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Sunday afternoon.

The former Aston Villa star went down following a challenge by Damien Delaney inside the Palace penalty box and stepped up to coolly slot home the resulting spot kick.

It was a controversial decision from the officials to award Liverpool the penalty for that challenge.

Ba, who now plays for Chinese Super League club Shanghai Greenland Shenhua, was following the match, and he was impressed with Benteke.

Benteke has scored seven goals and created 25 chances in 24 Premier League appearances for Liverpool so far this season.

The Belgium international striker has a pass accuracy of 67% and a shot accuracy of 46%, and has won 112 headers, 10 dribbles and four tackles.

Liverpool are seventh in the Premier League table at the moment with 44 points from 28 matches.
