Andy Hinchcliffe backs Newcastle United to get relegated and Sunderland to stay up.

Former Everton defender Andy Hinchcliffe said on the Sky Sports Now show on Sky Sports News HQ on Friday morning (11:16am, March 4) that Newcastle United will get relegated from the Premier League at the end of the season.

While agreeing with fellow Sky Sports pundit Tony Gale that Norwich City and Aston Villa will finish in the bottom three this season, Hinchcliffe said when asked to pick between Newcastle and Sunderland as the third team: “It’s going to be Newcastle or Sunderland. I am going to tip Newcastle. I don’t want to, but I feel I have to.”

Villa look doomed for relegation to the Championship, and Norwich’s recent performances suggest that they will go down as well.

Newcastle and Sunderland are also in danger of getting relegated, but they both will fancy their chances of staying up.

While the Magpies have a good squad with some good players, the Black Cats have a certain Sam Allardyce as their manager.

Allardyce has been in a similar situation before, and he knows what it takes to survive in the Premier League.

Newcastle will take on Bournemouth at St. James’ Park in the Premier League this afternoon.

Meanwhile, Sunderland will face Southampton away from home at St. Mary’s Stadium in the league.

Both Newcastle and Sunderland will be determined to pick up all three points from their respective Premier League matches today.
