Robbie Savage has suggested on Twitter that Bournemouth are now possibly one win away from safety after beating Newcastle United 3-1 while mentioning Sunderland’s heartbreaking draw at Southampton.
It was an intriguing afternoon for the teams fighting for Premier League survival and the big story of the day came at St. James’ Park as Eddie Howe’s Bournemouth defeated Newcastle 3-1.
It was a bitter blow for the Magpies, who remain in 19th position, but on the flip side the Cherries are now 11 points clear of the bottom three and Savage hints that one more win might be enough.

Bournemouth have been terrific after a somewhat slow start to the campaign, yet the same can’t be said of Norwich City after they suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to fellow relegation rivals Swansea City.
The Canaries are now favourites alongside Aston Villa to go down, having now gone nine league games without a win, while Swansea have moved up to 33 points - nine ahead of the drop zone.
It’s looking increasingly like two from Newcastle, Norwich and Sunderland will join Villa in the Championship next season and the Black Cats came agonizingly close to a much-needed victory at Southampton.
With the hosts down to ten men, Sunderland’s Jermain Defoe looked like giving the Wearside club all three points but they were pegged back in the dying moments as Virgil van Dijk equalised for the Saints.
It leaves Sam Allardyce’s men just one point above the drop zone, and in a precarious position ahead of next week’s encounter with North East rivals Newcastle.
