Report: Crystal Palace and West Brom plot summer moves for Blackburn's Shane Duffy

Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are reportedly keen on Blackburn Rovers defender Shane Duffy.

According to The Mirror, Crystal Palace and West Bromwich Albion are both keen on summer moves for Blackburn Roves defender Shane Duffy.

Both teams sit in the bottom half of the Premier League table, with Palace in 15th place on 33 points, and the Baggies just two places higher and with three more points to their name.

Palace boss Alan Pardew has come in for criticism of late, and will be hoping to spend some cash this summer to strengthen a squad which has faded in 2016, which Baggies manager Tony Pulis will surely want reinforcements if he manages to keep his job ahead of next season.

Now, the two sides are reportedly keen on the same player, as The Mirror report that both teams are plotting summer moves to sign Blackburn Rovers centre back Shane Duffy.

Duffy, 24, signed for Everton back in 2008 and after loan spells with Burnley, Scunthorpe United and Yeovil Town, he was sold to Blackburn Rovers in September 2014.

Having struggled for first-team football at Goodison Park, Duffy is now thriving in the Championship, and his performances appear to have triggered interest in his signature, with Palace and West Brom believed to be keen on £3m moves for the player this summer.

At 6ft 4in, Duffy has the size that Pulis would be looking for in a centre back, whilst it's claimed that Palace could look to Duffy if star defender Scott Dann leaves Selhurst Park at the end of the season.

A once-capped Republic of Ireland international, Duffy could be handed another chance in the Premier League, especially considering that he has just one year left on his contract at Ewood Park, meaning Rovers may be forced to sell this summer.
