Newcastle will head into the game at St. James’ Park on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Stoke City away from home at the Britannia Stadium.
Steve McClaren’s side are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in real danger of going down to the Championship at the end of the season.
Pressure is huge on the Magpies, but a couple of the players looked cheerful in training on Friday.
Shelvey, who joined Newcastle from Premier League rivals Swansea City in the January transfer window, has played six times in the league for McClaren’s side.
The former Liverpool midfielder has created 11 chances, has a pass accuracy of 84% and a shot accuracy of 57%, and has won one header, six dribbles and nine tackles.
Perez has scored five goals and created 27 chances in 24 Premier League matches for Newcastle so far this campaign.
