Matt Le Tissier makes a worrying claim about Aston Villa's Under-21s

Aston Villa's senior side are woeful - why isn't their manager blooding the youngsters?

Matt Le Tissier is worried about how bad Aston Villa's Under-21s must be, according to Sky Sports.

Indeed, so poor have Villa been this season, the pundit feels any other manager would be playing the club's younger players.

But Remi Garde isn't - and Le Tissier feels that is a worrying sign considering just how bad the senior side have been.

Le Tissier told Gillette Soccer Saturday before Aston Villa's heavy thrashing at Manchester City: "You’ve got to worry about their Under-21s. If they’re not getting picked when the first team are rubbish, you have to question whether there’s enough quality there."

Meanwhile, David Pleat has praised Garde and the way in which the Villa boss has conducted himself under such pressure, according to BBC Football.

Pleat feels the Frenchman is a victim of the wider problems at Aston Villa and believes reports of a poor relationship between manager and players must be true.

He said: "There must be a poor relationship between the players and manager but Remi Garde has handled himself well. It has been a terrible time, it hasn't been good for Garde and his cv, he must be dispirited. Look at the recruitment, the players who came have been poor.

"Not good enough. I also think that Garde, who came in as a solution, was recommended by Arsene Wenger. There is a lack of football knowledge behind the scenes at Aston Villa. They have to get that right."

Aston Villa produced another woeful and embarrassing performance against Manchester City on Saturday afternoon.

But, to neutrals, Aston Villa fans and even Villa's opposition players, that no longer comes as any kind of surprise.
