Newcastle suffered yet another loss in the Premier League, going down 3-1 to the Cherries at St. James’ Park.
Former Newcastle striker Shearer was following the match, and he was not impressed with the performance of Steve McClaren’s side.
Prior to the match, Shearer had suggested that Newcastle should sack McClaren if they lose to Bournemouth.
The former England international told BBC Sport on Saturday afternoon (14:48): ”If Newcastle lose on Saturday they would have to think about Steve McClaren's position. They have given him a lot of money to spend, and time.
“It would be a devastating blow to not win, they need three points. To get a draw is not good enough. They have scored seven goals away from home which is embarrassing. It is a hopeless record.”
Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment with 24 points from 28 matches. The Magpies are a point behind 17th-placed Sunderland and have a game in hand.
There is still a chance that McClaren’s side will not get relegated to the Championship, but their performances need to improve.
Against Bournemouth at home on Saturday afternoon, the Newcastle players failed to raise their game and deservedly lost the game.
