Arsenal will be looking to return to winning ways this weekend.

Liverpool legend Steve Nicol has criticised Arsenal forward Alexis Sanchez on ESPN FC.

Sanchez, who has not been in good form for the past few weeks, recently admitted that the Arsenal players lack the mentality to win the Premier League title.

"Sometimes we lack the mentality that we are already winning 1-0 when we go out on to the pitch," BBC Sport recently quoted the Chile international as saying. "We lack this hunger to believe that we can be champions.”

Former Liverpool defender Nicol has criticised Sanchez for his comments and has also slammed Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger.

“Imagine actually even admitting that,” Nicol told ESPN FC regarding Sanchez’s comments. “At the same time, I am going back to Wenger.

“How long have we been saying that he needs to buy somebody who is going to sit in the middle of the park and be the guy that brings all together?

“How many times have we said that he needs a player like that because they don’t have one? And Sanchez, well, he is basically saying that with his statement.”

Nicol has also predicted Arsenal to lose to Tottenham Hotspur in the North London derby on Saturday afternoon.

“I don’t see how you could not think that Spurs were going to win this game,” said the Liverpool legend on ESPN FC when asked about his prediction for the Premier League game.

Sanchez is one of the best players in the Premier League, but his recent form has been less than impressive.

The former Barcelona forward has scored six goals and created 38 chances in 20 league matches for the Gunners so far this campaign.

The Chilean has a pass accuracy of 81% and a shot accuracy of 47%, and has won 17 headers, 61 dribbles and 22 tackles.

Arsenal are third in the Premier League table at the moment with 51 points from 28 matches, three points behind second-placed and North London rivals Tottenham.
