Slaven Bilic reacts to reports claiming West Ham want to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic

West Ham reportedly want to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer.

Speaking to the Standard, Slaven Bilic has reacted to reports claiming West Ham want to sign Zlatan Ibrahimovic this summer.

Bilic said: “I see we have been linked next season with Zlatan Ibrahimovic. Yes, we are ambitious and we are determined to progress. To be realistic, though, we are not yet a club who those kind of players would consider.”

Bilic would certainly love a player of Ibrahimovic’s quality at West Ham, but he is staying realistic and admitting that any move for the Swedish striker is highly improbable.

Ibrahimovic is out-of-contract at PSG this summer, and there will be a big rush for his signature at the end of the season.

He is expected to move on from the Ligue 1 club, and MLS is a destination many believe he will head to, but a stint in the Premier League could excite him before a big pay day in the USA.

He has never played in England, and the Sun claimed last week that Ibrahimovic is a target for the Hammers, as they look to sign a big name player to ‘herald their move to the Olympic Stadium’.

Ibrahimovic would be a fantastic signing for the Hammers, but Bilic is staying grounded and accepting that West Ham still do not have the reputation to move for a player of the calibre of the striker.
