Don Hutchison suggests a potential replacement for Steve McClaren

Don Hutchison suggests that Newcastle United should appoint former Liverpool and Swansea City boss Brendan Rodgers.

Former Sunderland midfielder Don Hutchison has suggested on social networking site Twitter that Newcastle United should sack head coach Steve McClaren if they lose this weekend.

Newcastle are second from bottom in the Premier League table at the moment and are in real danger of getting relegated to the Championship at the end of the season.

The Magpies will take on Bournemouth at St. James’ Park in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.

Hutchison has suggested on Twitter that Newcastle should sack McClaren if they lose to the Cherries and appoint Brendan Rodgers in his place.

Rodgers is without a managerial job at the moment, having been sacked by Liverpool in October of last year.

The 43-year-old knows the Premier League inside out, having also managed Swansea City.

The Northern Irishman did a very good job at Swansea, getting the Welsh outfit promoted from the Championship and then keeping them in the Premier League.

Rodgers did relatively well at Liverpool, guiding the Reds to a top-four finish in the Premier League during his time at Anfield.
